NRTW HISTORY - MELBOURNE '02

DATE THE VENUE THE INVITE

Saturday 26th

January 2002

The Provincial Hotel :

@6.00pm onward.

[ Andy’s back from England for good. ;-) ]

Dear All,

We had a brilliant, and ever increased turnout to the Christmas Nrtw. I booked a table for 15 judging by the responses, and we ended up having around a thirty person attendance. I sincerely apologise to those non-RLMers who did not get to find out about the date by word-of-mouth. I did not get to realise my mistake until that evening (too late by then !) I'll try not the screw up this time : This month's Nrtw will be boldly held where no Nrtw has gone before. ( Possible hidden meaning !) :

Friday 1st

March 2002

Marques of Lorne Bar #7:30pm – 11.30pm.

The Purple Turtle @12.00am onward.

Sorry Ladies & Gents,

February's Nrtw will be on Friday 1st March. I couldn't hold it last week 'cos I was in Canberra. I hope I haven't left it too late for everyone. If you are going to the Grand Prix on Friday, I might see you there.

Saturday 4th

May 2002

The Prince Patrick Hotel :

@7.30pm onward.

[ The Prince Patrick shut down in Jan 2003 ! :-( ]

Dear Lads & Lasses,

I am holding the next Nrtw at the ground that launched Rove's carrier, and yes, there will be 2 Nrtws in May !

Saturday 1st

June 2002

The Yeltza Bar :

@7.30pm onward.

[ My Birthday :-) ]

I'll try not to make a habit of the October Fest syndrome. (ie. I will endeavour to have the June Nrtw in June !). However, we've discovered this funky new bar in Fitzroy, and I definitely have to have my 31st Birthday here. It might be worth having a bite to eat before turning up though !  I will not forgive anybody that doesn't turn up to this one !

Friday 28th

June 2002

The Great Britain Hotel : @7.30pm onward.

[ Spate of redundacies at work :-( ]

Hi all,

Well if you didn't turn upto my birthday bash on the last Nrtw, you missed a corker ! - We had about 40 turn up. Apart from me having a few rounds with the floor towards the end of the night, it was brill. The next one is another special one 'cos we are having a 4 in 1 bash : ie. the NRTW + Borath's, Kit's and Frank Fogarty's leaving bashes.

Friday 26th

July 2002

The Lambsgo Bar :

@8.00pm onward

Dear All,

Well, I can safely say that we gave Borath, Kit (aka : Fib), and Frank, a good sending off. The turnout was once again pretty fantastic. I'm getting so many requests for adding more people onto the infamous Nrtw list, that it's a hit. Keep it up guys/gals !

Friday 30th

August 2002

The Prahran Hotel :

@7.30pm onward

Dear All,

We had a great evening at the Lambsgo Bar last month. Not a bad array of Belgian bevvies there. Monty's around the corner was the next point of call for those more hardened party animals. It was good to see some fresh Nrtw goers ! I am informed that we will have a few more fresh faces at the next one. So come along !

Friday 27th

September 2002

The Union Club Hotel :

@7.30 onward.

Hello once again,

Jesus! - I think we've brocken the Nrtw record for turn out once again ! - I reckon I should start an Nrtw bar/pub guide and have a column in FHM Australia. What d'yas think ?? There are still more people emailing me to be put onto the Nrtw list. So it's still growing. Remember if you know more people who want to join us, just email me their details ! There's a cool choice of "moving on" venues round the corner, - like the Yeltza Bar (my birthday bash venue), the Builder's Arms and The Perseverance(open till 3am) if anybody is interested in afters.

Friday 25th

October 2002

Belgian Beer Café Bluestone :

@7.30 onward.

Once again, my sincerest apologies for the late notice ! I'm off to sunny Sri Lanka on the 2nd Nov, and I'll be back via England just in time for the Nov Nrtw. What planning eh ? I thought this time we ought to make like a baby, and head out for some Belgian (not quite Bavarian but perhaps better) beer.

Where to next ? - That's anybody's guess ! - Recommendations are welcome.

Saturday 30th

November 2002

College Lawn Hotel:

@8pm onward.

[ Karyn has kindly informed me of the venue. – Must have been a good night, if I totally lost it ! ]

Thursday 19th

December 2002

The Flying Duck Hotel :

7.30pm onward

[ Majour spate of redundancies :-( ]

The Christmas NRTW will be held at the usual venue, to maintain tradition. ( I ought to go and book a table ! ). There should be a fare few people considering the disbanding of so many of the RLM employees.
